The last day of the term

Today is 7th of June 2011 and this is the last day of lessons in summer term before the exams start. Those who hasn’t completed their works, should pass them today because that will be the last opportunity! On the other hand, our holidays will start next week and I feel much better when I’m thinking about my summer holidays. Overall, this term was very interesting and it has gone very fast!

June Ball

 

Today is the 3rd of June and that is the date for our June Ball, which will take a place at Bellerbys College in Brighton. yesterday we have receieved our Certificates about graduating from Foundation Programme. I hope that the Ball will be fantastic and we will spend a wonderful time!

Coming Days

In the following days we are going to have 3 main events that I am waiting for. First, we will receive our graduating certificates and Mr. James with Mr. Addison will name the most hard-working students that were achieving high grades during the whole year. After that all students and teachers will gather together in the preston park to have a photo. Finally, this friday is going to be the June Ball. Everyone are exciting about it so do I.

Last Term Overview

My holidays gone very fast and they finished at 17^th of April. On the next day, I flew back to the UK to continue my university preparation at Bellerbys College. That was my final term on Foundation Programme. At this term I was studying three subjects that are F.E.S. 3, C.I.T. and Business Studies 2.  While I have been spending holidays in my home country I thought that the last term will be the easiest for me, however I had faced a lot of challenges during the last weeks of the term. I had some difficulties because these three subjects are completely differed from each other and we had to do a lot of work. At the lessons of English we were given the course work for the whole term and this course work took many forces and effort. Also thanks to debates on English lessons, I have approached with my classmates and have developed the social and communicative skills. However, I found the FES essay very difficult because we were given a short time to do it and we needed to choose the academic topic and make a presentation on it. Turning to the Business subject, we have passed through many case studies which have helped me to understand all modules of the subject. Also we have watched various films about different methods of manufacturing and production which I have found very useful and interesting. Afterwards, we had tests with short questions but some of them were difficult. At the lessons of CIT I have learned how to use various toolbars in the majority of Microsoft Office programs that I didn’t know earlier. Also thanks to presentation, I have overcome in myself fear and have developed oratorical skills and now I can be confident to do other presentations. Previously I used the computer only to type a text or access to the internet, therefore in the beginning it was a little bit hard for me to cope with some tasks. I wouldn’t manage to pass through it all if I haven’t put to it enough effort. All our teachers helped and guided me through the whole term. Now in the end of this term I understand that work with a class is hard work. I have changed my point of view about debate because earlier I thought that debate cannot solve the root of the problem. But now I know that at the end of the debates you eventually come to a certain opinion and make from this conclusion. I consider that all these subjects are very useful and now I can use all the knowledge in my further education and future life. By the end of this term, I am going to have two exams which are Business Studies 2 and Accounting. Also in the following week we will be given the certificates of graduating Bellerbys College. I am very excited about the June ball which will be held in 3^rd of June and I think it is great that all our teachers and students will gather together in this evening. Eventually I have built good relationships with my classmates as we coped with all tasks together during the whole year. Furthermore, teachers at Bellerbys were very kind to me and thanks to their hard work I have learnt all material and have coped with the program. In addition, Bellerbys gave me unforgettable impression. I can say that I have spent here useful and interesting time. Unfortunately, at this term time passed very quickly and this is the last year atBellerbysCollege. However, I will never forget my life experience which I have received being here.

CIT

 This term I am studying an interesting lesson called CIT. I consider it as one of the key subjects of the whole term. During the lessons we have gone through many useful topics such as how to work on Microsoft Power Point, Word and Excel. Moreover, we have presented our own presentations. This has developed my social skills and confidence in speech. Also, we have learnt how to create slides in Power Point and put short useful information or insert pictures. Furthermore, to make my presentation more attractive I used animations and slide design. Moreover, due to the different tasks on Excel I am able to do some statistics there and create tables.

Turning to Microsoft Word, now I am able to use many toolbars and edit the text in different variations. However, to achieve success in these tasks, I had to put a sufficient importance to this subject. As a whole it is an excellent subject, which is based on the rules of the modern society. Finally, I am absolutely sure that the knowledge of the CIT will help me in my university education. Hence, I hope that it will help to my classmates too.

FES

Here on Business Foundation Programme we have gone through English lessons. The subject is called FES: Foundation English Skills. Generally, the whole module is divided into three terms. In the first we studiedFESon the example of IELTS. We have gone through listening, reading, writing and speaking. Finally at the end of the term we passed our exams. Turning to the second term, there was a preparation to IELTS, after which I passed my IELTS with an overall score of 7. At the third term we did presentation, took a part in debates, but the main task was an essay on 1500 words. Overall, it is possible to say that FES lessons were very interesting and useful. Such lessons help to improve your level of English language, also to learn the British culture and society. Thanking FES, level of my English has strongly improved. Moreover, now I feel much more confident, when I’m taking a part in debates, because practice helped me significantly.

Homework difference between the UK and Kazakhstan

At this stage I will talk about the distinctions of homework in the UK and my home country. First of all, our countries have absolutely different education systems. Therefore, it means that the way of teaching in our countries completely differs. Turning to homework, for example in Kazakhstan we have a different estimate system: 5 mark, whereas in theUKfrom “A” to “U “or in percentages. Also, when I was studying in Kazakhstanwe received homework every day and we were allowed to do our homework at the classroom. Furthermore, we didn’t write so many essays for homework as in the UK.
Generally, as a whole we received more homework on engineering sciences because I have been studying in physical and mathematical school.
Overall, it is possible to say that despite the fact of differences in home works, to solve them and pass before the deadline, you need to put enough effort into your work.

First Impression about the UK

Before my first arrival to England I have never been in the countries of Europe. I was in anticipation as I always dreamed to see the sights of the UK, such as Big Ben, Brighton Pier. However, the main reason of my arrival lied in the education. Because, it is well-known fact, that the UK has got one of the best educations in the world. Coming back to arrival, when our flight has arrived we straight went to Brighton. Weather stood nice and clear and on the way I have paid attention to high quality of the roads in the UK. Also, drivers were very polite. People here in Brighton were very friendly and hospitable.  Brighton have made a great impact on my view of theUK, it was very pleasant to me, I was very glad that I came to the UK.
